MV’s Burnett collars win at Soda Springs X-Country meet

BRIDGER VALLEY — The cross country teams are making marks at huge cross country meets with their latest time on the course at the annual Cardinal Classic last weekend.

The Classic, held at Kelly Park Trails in Soda Springs, Idaho, played host to seven Wyoming schools which included Lyman and Mountain View. The other Wyoming schools included Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Rock Springs and Star Valley. These schools were only a handful of the schools, which competed at the meet as schools from Idaho and Utah were also there. There were 227 runners in the boys division and 186 runners in the girls division

Owen Burnett, of Kemmerer, runs for Mountain View, and he won the boys' 5K race at 16:52.16. Habtamu Wetzel of Star Valley finished third. Colby Jenks from Jackson was fourth. Madison Antonino of Jackson took fourth and was the top Wyoming girl in the race.

In the boys division, Cash Henrie cruised in at 42 with 18:14;04 for the second fastest time for Mountain View,

Brigham Fanos, with a time of 18:38;37, turned in the fastes time for Lyman and crossed the line as #64.

In the girls division, Karly Sabey of Lyman was again a top contender. She crossed the line as #13 with a time of 21:18.75. The fastest time turned in for Mountain View was by Caprice Winn as #41 with a time of 22:27.91
