EVANSTON — Uinta County Public Health spearheaded two events for this year’s Kids Safety Roundup—one in Evanston on June 27, and the latest in Mountain View on July 11.
This community event, supported by a broad coalition, was created to promote health and safety and provide education. An additional benefit is connecting community members with various county agencies whose missions support and sustain these goals.
While this event is certainly educational it is also a fun family event, according to Jill Adams, Uinta County Public Health. Smiling blue lips and tongues from the free snow cones was certainly a crowd favorite and a great way to beat the heat. The fire department in Bridger Valley ended the event on a high note with a water balloon fight.
Additional booths provided free bicycle helmets and fittings, car seat safety checks and free car seats, according to Adams.
Other highlights include raffle prizes, games, children’s books giveaway, pet licensing, obstacle courses, roping dummies, Wyoming Highway Patrol safety belt simulator, and the impressive landing of an AirMed helicopter.
Kids and adults alike could be found climbing, or having a close peak, into a fire truck, ambulance or helicopter. Educational booths include health and wellness, Internet safety, electrical safety, gun safety, and participation from our First Responders (Police and Sheriff’s Departments).
