LHS Lady Eagles took the win in a close game

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Buffalo Dome was full with some areas of standing-room only last week on Friday as the MVHS Buffalos hosted the LHS Eagles in a shoot-out on the hardwood.

All four varsity teams, primed and ready, took their turn on the hardwood after preliminary games played by the JV teams. And, the varsity teams split the wins with the MVHS Buffs out-shooting the LHS Eagles and the Lady Eagle out-shooting the Lady Buffs.

And true to fashion, multitudes of fans were on hand to root for their respective teams, turning the Dome into

All season, both Valley lady teams have been at the top of the SW Quad with the Lady Buffs in first and the Lady Eagles in second. In fact, the Lady Buffs have been in the #4 slot of the 3A conference.

Following last Friday’s game in Mountain View where the Lady Eagles took the game by 11, the SW Quad on Monday had the Lady Eagles in the #1 notch and the Lady Buffs in at #2. However, this game didn’t bounce the Lady Buffs from #4 in the 3A.

Although the Lady Eagles won by 11, the score didn’t reflect the true aspect of the game. Both teams were hot and ready when they stepped on the hardwood. The Lady Buffs put in a basket and had a three-point lead when Lady Eagle Mandy Eyre followed up a Lyman basket with a two-point lay up giving the Lady Eagles a one-point lead. The Lady Buffs maintained a slight lead in the first quarter and both teams were firing.

When it came down to crunch-time, the Lady Buffs fouled the Lady Eagles as soon as the ball was brought on the floor. The Lady Eagles capitalized on the times they went to the bonus line, doubling the points put on the board by the Lady Buffs in the fourth, stretching the Lady Eagles lead to 11 as the clock wound down, to win the game with a score of 53-42.

MVHS BUFFS ROLLED OVER LYMAN EAGLES

MOUNTAIN VIEW —The MVHS Buffalos scored 61 points and held the visiting Lyman Eagles to 44 in the Buffalo Dome last week on Friday.

This gave the Buffalos a 11-4 record. The Buffalos played the Manila, Utah, Mustangs last Saturday, Feb. 15, loosing to the Mustangs on the road, 47-31. The Mustangs were coming off of a 59-37 league win over Rich (Randolph, UT). The Mustangs record now stands at 16-5, with the win over the Buffs.

Following last Friday’s game, the Eagles (8-10) will now prepare for their contest against the Big Piney Punchers tonight in the Puncher arena.

The two teams were back on the hardwood in the second quarter and each was set to try to control the game. The Eagles were fired up and added more points than the Buffs so the Eagles led by two, 17-15. The game was tied at 20 as the teams continued to battle for baskets. The teams traded points at the charity line and retied the game at 21 with 2.40 lift in the second quarter. Brewer stepped up to the line another time, put in one-of-two to give the Eagles a one point lead, 22-21. Houskeeper was back at the line, three-for-three and the Eagles led by three at the half, 27-24.

About half way through the third, the Buffalos started firing on all cylinders. From then on, they basically controlled the game, getting the shots, taking the ball off the boards. This was set off by a 3-pointer put up by Braeden Walk, and the Buff-rush was on, no looking back. Another 3-pointer by Madsen, a three from Ashton Schofield, and the Buffs stretched their lead to six, 45-39.

Bluemel was tough on the boards and put in multiple points for the Buffs as the Buffs took control of the game.

The Buffalos were back in the game in the fourth, continuing to fire on all cylinders as the two teams played a high-energy, fast and furious game. As the fourth was winding down, the Buffalos stretched their lead to 14, 55-41.

With 1.55 left in the game, Madsen put in a lay up to add to the Buffs score and win, 61-45.

During the fourth quarter, Houskeeper fell to the floor, holding his head and was pulled from the game.
