Easter Egg Hunt not dampened by cold and snow

FORT BRIDGER — The Easter Egg Hunt, a project of the Mountain View Lions Club, was held Saturday, March 30, at the Fort Bridger State Historic Site.

The Valley kids and families turned out en masse. Eggs were hidden across the state grounds, and the kids were divided into age groups so the children competed against kids of their own age.

New this year, the state site demonstrated the Victorian method of dying eggs, strawberries, turnips and other food items dotted the table and were used to create the colors to dye the eggs.

The day was brisk and the new-fallen snow covered the ground. The day was cloudy with no wind. The siren sounded, and the kids were off as they were turned loose in the hunt areas. And, within minutes, the eggs were scarfed up and the group was headed back to the starting lines.
