LYMAN — Ellis Ramon Walker passed away Friday, Aug. 11, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Lyman, the eldest child of Ellis Colvin and Kimba Rollins Walker.

Ramon grew up learning the value of hard work on his father's ranch. After graduating high school Ramon served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return, he met and later married Verla Tingey on June 7, 1956, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they built their life on their ranch near Lyman with their four children: Susan (Roger) Rae, Wendy (John) Taylor, Marti (Kim) Walker and Scott (Lori) Walker.

Ramon also worked at FMC for 27 years. He was considered a doctor of mechanics and could fix just about anything.

Family was always his top priority. An icon in the community, he was loved and respected by all who knew him and would help anyone in need without hesitation. He was an honest man and when he gave his word it was golden. He will be sorely missed.

Ramon is preceded in death by his wife, Verla; parents, Ellis and Kimba; brother, Stanley; grandsons, Kyle Taylor, Samuel Taylor and Spencer Rae; and great-grandsons, Gabriel Grisham and Dixon Rae.

He is survived by his four children, 17 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lyman at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 9 to 10:45 a.m. A viewing will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at the church. Burial will be in the Lyman Cemetery.
