BRIDGER VALLEY — Hats off to more Bridger Valley athletes. This time in soccer as five players were selected to hit the pitch at the All-Star soccer matches last Saturday in Gillette.

The All Star games are produced by the Wyoming Coaches Association. Recently, the Wyoming Coaches Association tapped 66 players in a lottery for the two girls and two boys teams.

The Girls Team White was coached by Justin Carr from Douglas High School. Standout soccer player Cami Kenison of Mountain View was tapped as one of the players on the White Team, wearing No. 14 while on the team. Readers will remember Kenison has signed to play soccer on the collegiate level.

No Valley girls were tapped for the Girls Team Black, which was coached by Jannie Miller from Rawlins High School.

On the boys division, players were tapped for both the White and Black teams.

The Black Team was led by Josh Eastman from Cheyenne South High School. He tapped three Valley players, two from Mountain View. The players were Gage Nielson, wearing No.21, of Lyman and Guage Shepherd, wearing No. 25, and Braden Walker, wearing No. 35, both of Mountain View.

The Boys White Team was coached by Brian Richins of Evanston High School. He tapped Tyden Hill, Lyman, who wore No. 23, and one player from Evanston, Dylan Liechty, wearing No. 20.

Both matches were held at Pronghorn Field at Gillette College.

As for the boys match, The Wyoming Coaches Association Boys All-Star Soccer game was pretty one-sided as the Black team blanked the White team 6-0.

The girls match, on Saturday was tightly contested with the White team beating the Black team 1-0. It was a bit windy and that limited scoring chances but Newcastle's Gabby McVay found the net in the first half and that goal stood up. McVay was an all-state performer in 3A this past season and scored 21 goals for the Dogies.
