LYMAN — Gloria Rosebud Shurtleff Jensen, 90, passed away Jan. 26, 2022, after a valiant struggle with colon cancer. She was born Sept. 20, 1931, to Mary Erickson and Wallace Vincent Shurtleff.
Gloria attended school in Mountain View, and before graduating, she started working at the Uinta County State Bank. She was working there when she married Sherman Arthur Jensen on Nov. 18,1950, in Lyman, Wyoming, the same day Sherman got his draft notice.
After Sherman returned from Korea they made their home in Granger, Wyoming. In 1954 Sherman and Gloria moved into the home in Lyman, Wyoming, where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held numerous callings in both the Ward and Stake. She especially loved teaching the Blazers in primary, her 16-year-old Sunday school class, and visiting the “older ladies” as Relief Society president. She also loved serving in the Ogden Temple twice a week for many years.
Gloria loved her family, being outdoors, and was an avid sports fan, especially cheering for her local high school team. She will be remembered by her family as an example of charity, love and faith.
She leaves behind her children: Bradley (Karen) of Springville, Utah; LuJean (Jeani) (Ernie) Field of Syracuse, Utah; Bruce of Salt Lake City, Utah; Jolane (Jeff) of Fruit Heights, Utah; Brian (Alysia) of Lyman and Eagle Mountain, Utah; Colette (Randy) of Lyman, Wy.; 22 grandchildren, and 54 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Sharon Jensen of Mountain View, Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman; parents, Wallace and Mary Shurtleff; her sisters: Evelyn, Lavina, Margaret, June, Mary Ellen and Donna; her brother, Jonathan; her in-laws, Leah and Thorvald Jensen, Udell, Allen, Rodney, Craig, and sister-in-law Eileen Burnham; and sisters-in-law, Gwynda Lindsey Jensen and Judy Green Jensen.
The family would like to thank Kaylee and Felicia from Best Home Health and Hospice for their tender and loving care in helping our mother in her walk back home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at the Lyman LDS Chapel at 11 a.m, visitation from 9–10:45 a.m.
