CARLSBAD, N.M. In loving memory of Je Paul Milam, 84, who passed away peacefully at his home in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on Nov. 22, 2023.

He was born on Nov. 28, 1938, in Antlers, Oklahoma, to Paul Alexander and Rosa Bee “Main” Milam.

He ran away at 15 and joined the Army. He was honorably discharged when they found out his age. He joined the Navy at 17, and served his country. He became a ranch hand, fire watch for the forest service, and was a miner for many years and sunk shafts from Alaska to West Virginia and everywhere in between.

Later on, he became a pipeline welder, which he really enjoyed doing.

He always loved horses and had a profound connection with them and was able to buy Thoroughbred racehorses later on. His love for these majestic creatures brought him immeasurable joy, and he thoroughly enjoyed going to see them race, especially when they won.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, two older sisters and one younger brother, his son-in-law, Ron Wilson; grandson, Austin Wilson; and great grandson, Brandstin Biebinger.

He is survived by his four children: Randy Milam of Lyman, Wyoming; Rebecca Wilson of Lyman Wyoming; Laura Milam of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Melinda Milam of Queen Creek, Arizona; 12 grandchildren: Corey, Dominick, Luke, GaBrielle, Rachel, Dustin, DesaRaye, Jothan, Jasmine, Zachery, AraBella and Alexandria and 16 great-grandchildren.

Joe requested cremation and no service. May he rest in peace.
