LYMAN — The Lyman High School track teams competed in two track meets last week and have three on the docket this week as they wind up their season before heading to the regional track meet in Powell next week.

This week Lyman competed at the Jeff Hereford Memorial in Mountain View Tuesday, again in Green River yesterday and back on the field at Lander tomorrow as they wind up their season before heading to the regional track meet in Powell.

Lyman was front and center at the Kemmerer track meet last Saturday when they went head-to-head with athletes from Kemmerer, Evanston, Hanna-Elk Mountain, Cokeville and Farson-Eden.

For the Lady Eagles, Nicole Peden took first place in the shot, with a throw for 31-06.50 feet, which was almost two feet farther than the second place throw claimed by Kemmerer. Peden was back on the podium in the discus in fifth place with a throw for 79-07. She was also second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 28.51.

Another sprinter from Lyman, Lillian Chandler, placed in the 100 meter dash. Lillian Chandler claimed sixth place with a time of 14.76 2. The first six places hit the finish line with less than a second between the runners.

Power thrower Joseph Turner is becoming a name to heed. Turner aced the discus in Kemmerer, taking first place with a distance of 142-04, 12 feet better than the second place turned in by Kemmerer. In the shot, Turner claimed second place with 44-03.50, about two feet better than his prelim of the day.
