MVHS hosted Jeff Hereford Memorial Track Meet Tuesday, May 2

MOUNTAIN VIEW — This is the final week of the regular track and field season in Wyoming and it was kicked off locally with the MVHS Jeff Hereford Memorial track meet Tuesday in Mountain View.

The day claimed good weather even though it was overcast, but it proved to be a good day for track athletes to compete on the field and track. In addition, as this is the final week of the regular season, it is the final week for athletes to push their personal bests and qualify for state.

Athletes at the Memorial meet included host school Mountain View and teams from Evanston, Kemmerer and Lyman.

Mountain View took first place in both the girls and boys divisions with the girls racking up 144 points and the boys racking up 192.33 points. In the girls division Kemmerer was second with 132 points, Evanston third with 102 point and Lyman fourth with 83 points.

In the boys division Evanston was second with 167.66 points, Lyman third with 29 points and Kemmerer fourth with 64 points.

Results for Mountain View in the top two places in events follow.

Buffalo Carson Eardley took first place in both the 100 and 200. He was followed by teammates Bodey Fraughton in second place in the 100 and Paxton Walker in second place in the 200. Fraughton also took second place in the 400.

MVHS distance runner Aidan Salinas took first place in the 800. First place in the 3200 was claimed by LHS Eagle Mason Staheli.

Hurdlers in the boys division from the Valley also made points. Justin Platts and Isac Linford were first and second in the 110, and Race Carr took second place in the 300, under the first place hurdler Colter Krell of Kemmerer.

Race Carr of Mountain View took first place in the high jumps soaring two inches higher than the second place jumper from Kemmerer.

LHS Eagles nailed the first and second places in the long jump with Carter Bradshaw taking first and Brigham Fanos taking second.

Wyatt Jensen of Mountain View took first pace in the triple jump over the second place turned in by a jumper from Evanston.

Bradshaw was back in first place in the boys vault outsoaring the second place vault by almost three feet.

The Eagle team also turned in a first pace finish in the discus with power thrower Max Gregory claiming the spot. Spencer Erickson of Mountain View was second in this event.

MVHS power thrower Dane Branson was again at the top in the shot, taking first place with a 46:11.50. Teammate Erickson took second in this event.

Lyman hurdler Morgan Anderson again skimmed the hurdles in the 100, taking first place. The winner of the 300 hurdles was Mylie Micheli of Mountain View.

In the jumping events, Ashtyn Wells of Lyman took first place over a jumper from Evanston.

The MVHS vaulters again claimed the top spots and as often happens, Mylie Micheli was first with a 10-foot vault. Teammate Grace Whiting was second with 9-feet.

Power throwers from the Valley also laid claim to first and second place in the discus. Caroline Bradshaw of Lyman was first with a throw just fractions under 106 feet.

MVHS’s McKinlee Covolo took second place.

Covolo took first place in the shot with 35:04.00, followed by Lindsey Tucker in second place with 30:05.25
