LYMAN — Peggy Susan Schell, age 75, peacefully left this world to reunite with her Savior, June 16, 2023, after a short illness.

She was born Nov. 27, 1947, in Pocatello, Idaho; to Lewis and Laura Selders. She grew up on their farm, riding horses and helping her Daddy harvest potatoes. In high school, she enjoyed performing on the stage and making people laugh.

One day at a friends’ house, she saw a handsome guy sitting and reading the comic page of the paper. He was shy, but that didn’t stop her from getting to know her soon-to-be-lifelong boyfriend, Jerry George Schell. They later married on June 4, 1966. They started their family with daughter, Geraldine, followed by Heidi, and then, Stacey, who lived for only a few hours. Their final child, son, Jason, was born after moving to Lyman, where they continued to live and raise their children.

Peggy was always a very loving and caring mother, and her children meant the world to her. She served her church, family and community well. She was the Baptist church secretary in Lyman for many years. She also served on the Lyman School Board. She worked as the secretary for several years at Farmers Insurance. She was voted Lyman’s Citizen of the Year for her service on the Beautification Committee. Among these community services, Peggy devoted 25 years sharing her knowledge of natural childbirth with many parents.

Peggy impacted many people’s lives by sharing her faith in the Lord. She was an amazing prayer warrior, loved singing her favorite hymns in church, and believed that she would one day be in the arms of her Lord!

Peggy so enjoyed her grand and great-grandchildren. Her eyes would light up when they were around, even when she was at her sickest.

Peggy was preceded by death by both her parents, her daughter, Stacey; two brothers, Ted and Jack Selders; one sister, Mary-Ellen Call; and grandson, Luke.

Peggy is survived by her loving boyfriend and husband, Jerry; two daughters, Geraldine Schell-Sing (Fred) and Heidi Schell (Russell); son, Jason (Jennifer); her youngest sister, Marjean Choules; and brother, Mike Selders; grandchildren: Kaylan, Chaz, Kellianne, Kobe, Saffren, Piper; and three great-grandchildren: Kymber, Nova and Alicen; and soon, a great-grandson.

Peggy’s family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date in August.
