South’s volleyball team took All Star match last week

CASPER —The Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star Volleyball match, first on the docket last Saturday afternoon proved to be a win for the South Team.

The match was held at 1 p.m. at Casper College, and the South defeated the North in four: 25-23, 25-13, 19-25, 25-20 and 12-15 to win the win of the 2023 Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star match. Two Valley players contributed to the South’s win.

The pre-game hype was Cheyenne East would bring a lot to the table for the South team with a pair of three-time all-state selections in Boden Liljedahl and Elysiana Fonseca. It went on to point out a trio of 2-time all-state pics in Ashlee Tims from Mountain View, Taylor Tyser of Laramie and Emma Norris from Burns.

Pundits in the know said “This group has all the right ingredients for success, it's just a matter of putting it all together against a talented North team.”

Both teams had some serious talent with Natrona's Megan Hagar leading everybody with 17 kills for the North, according to news reports.

Emma Norris of Burns was a major force for the South with six kills and she got plenty of help from her teammates. Mountain View’s Tims was one of the four in a post game interview. She like the other three talked about how well the team was amazng and able to gel to get the win. Tims will move on to compete in collegiate volleyball in Oregon.

Another Valley player who earned the distinction of being the best-of-the-best was Caroline Bradshaw of Lyman. This year’s head coach was Diana Tims of MVHS.
