FARMINGTON, Utah — Valeene Twitchell Field, 96 was born in Lyman on July 16, 1922, and passed away March 5, in Farmington, Utah

Valeene was the second child of Franklin Potter and Myrtle Bradshaw Twitchell. Frank and Myrtle had six daughters before they had any sons: Marcelle (Morby) Carter, Valeene Field, Thelma Wall, Rebecca Micheli, Duella Rollins and Jean Bluemel. After six daughters, two sons came along, Jerry and Rulon Twitchell. Then the caboose was another daughter, Rachel Ann Turner.

Valeene and her siblings enjoyed singing together and along with some tap dancing. They entertained many throughout the Valley as they grew up.

Joseph Kermit Field lit up Valeene’s life not long after they graduated. They were married on March 22, 1944, in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Dad had to serve in the army and shortly after they were married, he shipped out. Mom spent most of that first year away from Dad. After Dad was released from the army, they came back to Lyman with the exception of a few out of town jobs, Mom and Dad spent the rest of their lives on their ranch 2½ miles north of Lyman.

Mom was an excellent cook, seamstress, quilter and a very hard worker. She was the one who helped her children make it through school and took pride in spelling.

Six children were born to this happy couple: Wayne, Nancy Jo, Howard, Ernest, Ren and Mary Jo. In addition to the children, there are 38 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Mom is survived by two sisters, Jean and Ann, and her brother, Jerry. Preceding Valeene in death was her parents, five sisters, one brother, one son, Wayne; and three granddaughters.

A viewing will be held in the Lyman LDS church at 10 a.m. Saturday March 9, with a funeral following at noon. Burial to be in the Lyman City Cemetery.
