KIMBALL, Neb. — Jadie Giorgis, a loving husband and father, a dedicated educator, avid fisherman, trivia enthusiast, sports lover and lifelong Wyoming Cowboys fan died on Jan. 22, 2024, at the age of 82.
Jadie was born Oct. 25, 1941, in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. He embraced ranch life growing up on his family’s ranch where he learned a strong work ethic he passed on to his children. After high school, Jadie followed his passion for education at the University of Wyoming where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in education.
After graduation, Jadie married Barbara Owens, and their journey led them to Farson, Wyoming. Jadie taught and coached in Farson for three years before taking a new teaching job in Kimball, Nebraska. Together, he and Barbara spent the past 56 fulfilling years in Kimball, Nebraska, raising four children.
During his time in Kimball he taught at both the elementary and middle school levels. His legacy extends beyond the classroom, marked by coaching various sports including basketball, wrestling, football and track, playing softball in city leagues as well as summers he spent painting with his dear friend, Jack Vencil.
Jadie leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Barbara of Kimball, Neb.; daughters, Helen (Scott) Moser of Golden Valley, Min.; and Pam (Carl Butler) Giorgis of Kimball, Neb.;, sons: Jadie (Jennifer) Giorgis of Elkhorn, Neb.; and Will (Ramey) Giorgis of Saratoga Springs, Utah; nine grandchildren, two sisters, Virginia Giorgis and Darlene Giorgis, both of Fort Bridger, Wyoming; and a brother, Ernie (Mary Lynne) Giorgis also of Fort Bridger, Wyoming.
Jadie was preceded in death by his parents Jadie and Helen Giorgis and stepfather, Ernest Giorgis, who raised Jadie with his mother.
A small grave side service will be held in his honor at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kimball, Nebraska.
