Snyder Sand and Gravel, LLC of Lyman, WY has filed a small mining permit application with the Land Quality Division of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality for the mining of gravel in Uinta County, Wyoming. The Snyder Mine is located approximately 2.1 miles northwest of Lyman, WY, with an access road connection to WY Highway 414. The application may be viewed at the Cheyenne or the Lander Office of the Land Quality Division. The application will be readvertised for public comment prior to approval by the Department of Environmental Quality.

ORDINANCE NO. 2026-01
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CROSSWALK REGULATIONS
WHEREAS, the Town of Lyman has a responsibility to protect its residents and visitors from harm; and
WHEREAS, an increasing number of dangerous crosswalk violations and recent Court proceedings recommend a modification of the current crosswalk Ordinance.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE TOWN OF LYMAN, UINTA COUNTY, WYOMING THAT THE TOWN CODE SHOULD BE MODIFIED IN THE FOLLOWING WAY:
6-4-9: RIGHT OF WAY IN CROSSWALKS:
A driver of a vehicle shall yield the right of way by stopping to yield to any pedestrian within, entering or in the immediate proximity of the area of a crosswalk, including immediately adjacent to the edge of the roadway and within the associated safety zone.
A driver of a vehicle shall yield the right of way by stopping to yield to any pedestrian wearing a school crossing guard vest and any pedestrian accompanying said crossing guard.
No pedestrian shall suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle which is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.
Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk or at any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross the roadway, the driver of any other vehicle approaching from the rear shall not overtake and pass the stopped vehicle.
