Community Blood Drive Proposal for Bridger Valley:

Council President Ferrin reported citizens traveling to Utah multiple times weekly for blood products experiencing supply shortages. Bridger Valley has not held a blood drive for some time; Council President Ferrin contacted the county emergency management coordinator and the American Red Cross in Salt Lake City for Wyoming coverage. Current donation options: Casper, Cheyenne, or community-hosted blood fairs; blood cannot be earmarked for individuals. A national shortage of blood products (red cells, plasma, etc.) was noted. The Red Cross contact was enthusiastic about Bridger Valley re-engaging; Council President Ferrin is organizing efforts.

Benedicts cannot host; proposal to partner with the town to host in council rooms (intake in one room, drawing in the other); no expense, focus on timing and promotion. Discussion that mobile blood trucks are no longer used.

Council Member Brunski-Deckert noted the high school hosts Red Cross blood drives twice a year, coordinated by student council; students earn graduation cords by donating or assisting. Consideration to combine town efforts with high school drives for better visibility and accessibility and possibly expand frequency beyond twice a year.

Questions were raised on whether to host 2 vs. 4 times per year and how to incorporate student participation. Council President Ferrin suggested coordination with the student council lead and possibly Wyoming Bank coordination; Council Member Brunski-Deckert will find out details. Plan to continue discussion later after outreach. Support for town partnership on a blood drive.

ADJOURN

There being no other business, Mayor Bryan Ayres adjourned the meeting at 7:42 pm.
