OTHER BUSINESS
The next council meeting was moved to Monday, June 1, 2026, to accommodate travel to the WAM convention. The WAM convention is scheduled for June 3–5, 2026, in Laramie. The tentative Arbor Day date is June 9, 2026.
This may change if the state forestry office is unavailable. A significant portion of the County Commissioners’ meeting public comment focused on a proposed data center. A question was raised about using the sixth-penny tax as a general-purpose excise tax for ongoing infrastructure needs, similar to the City of Sheridan’s fifth penny.
Current understanding: the sixth-penny tax requires specific, pre-approved projects and expires once funded.
Brandon will research statutes to confirm whether a general infrastructure fund could be created with the sixth-penny tax.: The next Planning & Zoning meeting is June 4, 2026. Resolutions for budget amendment, overtime, and lodging tax will be prepared for the June 16, 2026 meeting. The town’s email system was hacked. All council email passwords will be reset, and two-factor authentication will be implemented. The IT provider is working on additional security measures. The status of the Fourth of July fireworks remains uncertain. Quarterly disinfection byproducts tests were high for TTHMs, though the rolling annual average remains within limits. Traffic has increased significantly. Deputies are actively issuing tickets in Mountain View. Printers for the new digital ticket system are being installed.
ADJOURN
Mayor Bryan Ayres adjourned the meeting at 7:40 pm
